Spider Wars on the Wall

Your child's cloths must have been dirty last a few days.

They call it "Spider Wars on the Wall ".

I don't know how to call this in Japanese, because we created this play in our own right.

It is like a ball tag.
The rule is simple. You have to stay in the soccer field or steeps. Oni has to throw ball to others.

Kids really enjoy that I have been "IT/Oni".

To be honest..... I feel guilty every time they slide on the dirt steep with their pants. I did fail to control them about this..... But I have suggested kids to stay inside the classroom when it was showering, but the answer was "NO". They call the shower "Oregon Sunshine". Really?

I have learned it...

...... please let them wear something old.

DAIKON- Japanese Radish

On the 4th grade Japanese text book, the main character Tsubomi-san got the Daikon as presents. So Aya-sensei brought some Daikon meals for kids.

Daikon- Japanese radish.

#1 Boiled Daikon
You can boil it with soy-source based soup.

#2 Grated Daikon
You can grate it like gingers and garlics and put it on grilled fish. Also you can add it into BBQ source to make it mild. I like putting it on top of TOFU.

Look at the following pics.
You can see how much they enjoyed Daikon flavors.

Recess #1

Soccer Team

Soccer is our favorite thing to do during the recess. They never stop playing during the limited recess time. That is why all my muscles are soar badly every morning.

They also play soccer at the PE time.

Japanese calligraphy #1

Most people in my age or older learn calligraphy after school.

It is not because parents want their kids to learn the chinese letters.

People believes,

"Writing shows your whole personality"

You can see some of your personality in pencils too. But if you use brushes, people who learned calligraphy deeply see a lot of things from your writings.

Calligraphy lesson includes many things.

Create concentration
Keep proper posture (way to sit, positions of elbow and hands, how to hold the brush)
Enjoy unique effect of "Ink and brush combination"
Learn Japanese as art
more.....

Calligraphy does not train only writing skill but also teaches real cultural things.

Jane Goodall Sep14/09

September 14th became a really special day for all kids who participated in that event.

Jane wears a gorgeous aura.

After I took your children to refill their bottles with water in the Portland French School main building, we were walking through the main hall which was on the way to get to playground. Ms. Goodall with her assistants were walking toward us. I did not have time to tell your children she was there. All I could do was to keep walking by her. I barely said "Hello" without expecting her response. But she replied to me and said "Hello".

All children in the playground were having a difficult time to cover their face from sunshine and calm them down from sitting too much time on the ground. But the moment Ms. Jane showed up, there were shouts of glee and clapping by all children.

We have learn about what she did in her past, so what she mentioned was really understandable for us.

The voice she talks to children was a magical gentle voice to mesmerize all listeners. I totally enjoyed this opportunity with kids.

Children will post some articles about Jane Goodall soon.
